That was one day where i used to do a kind of Vrat... Not even drink a drop of water... And only after the pooja got over at night around 8 or 9..eat or drink...

Hmm!!

Talk of gokulashtmi and i remember the past 21 years. Last year and this year and pretty sure next few years I am gonna miss it. Mantapa kattodu was the best thing to do, then about 50 people at home in the evening, friends and relatives, great stuff to eat after that. Those were the good old days. Beautiful pics, by the way how long are u here in the US hope u dont miss out on next year. Atleast you should go for vacation during august sept. :)

great pic. you know, these many festivals and celebrations is something which we might have got used to and may find nothing glaringly spectacular about them. we have some american visitors at our office this week. we took them to mysore ans showed them the palace and other monuments there. and we also explained them about the dasara procession that happens there - they were like "WOOOOOWWWW! We only have one or two days of such celebrations in the whole year! This is so cool!" - they find it so spectacular because they never have such celebrations in USA. yes, this is something that we can definitely be proud of :)

Srini,
very true Srini...
But i miss all these..Even when i was in Mysore... if i dint have holiday for a festival, i used to feel so bad and miss it... And yes Mysore is a beautiful place... But i wanted to go out of the place...as i wanted to be at home...
And we should be really proud of our heritage..
